Big Repair Needed
I have to take the car for service today because the engine light was on – “Service Engine Soon” since last Wednesday.
Chris called me at around 11am, and there is actually 2 major problem,
1) really big one, one of the thing has a problem, and it damaged the engine, so there is two part that need to replace, and good thing is covered by warranty, cost over $12000, but we don’t need to pay anything
2) some air filter thing have problem, cost 800, we will have to pay this one
good thing is that we are going to get a new engine, but its going to take a few days for all the parts arrive, and at least another 3 days to have it repaired.
The car is still safe to drive, so we will try to limit the car usage.
Another major cost for us…. aii
The Fair @ PNE Open Day
Posted by ss in Life, My BB Ivan on August 22, 2009
This is the 3rd year we go to the the PNE fair, but its the first time we go on the Open Day.
We wanted to take advantage of the free admission before noon, so we prepared to leave home at 10.30am to catch the skytrain to the PNE.
When we get to the 29th Avenue skytrain it was already 11.20, and the line up was crazy, 100+ people there.
Sue and I were in panic mode, we figure time is really tight and we are not going to arrive before noon. I called the Blackcab VIP line, and ask for a taxi. We know that its going to cost us more for the admission than calling the taxi.
20 minutes passed, and there were no cabs, 2 bus already came and picked up half of the people, and when the 3rd bus came, I finally saw the Blackcab I order, sue wanted me to get into this , but the driver so stupid keep on driving back and forth. Then Sue called to tell me she got into the bus, so I quickly run back onto the bus.
The journey was so long, the bus even have to stop and wait for a train to pass by Broadway Street. At last we arrived at the front gate at 12.05, and I run so fast to get inside.
We were all so happy to get in, and I found out I have dropped Ivan’s sun glasses. (now that really cost us $10)
It take us another half hour to find the in-laws because no body has any idea on locations, so I hurry ran back, but the KC Street party were all done, but at least we get to take some pictures with the toons.
After that, we watched the routine Superdog show, eat lunch at the expensive Vietnamese booth, went into the farm, street stars, and then we finally get to the parade.
Although the parade is a bit show, Justin and Ivan like it so much! When we walk by the ice-cream factory, Sue wanted to get them the ice-cream, so I bought the expensive ice-cream, and Ivan fall down from the banch on his back.
Ouch… its really really hurt, a big bump and bleeding.
Ivan cry so much, and we have to get first aid…
It was a really tired day for us and we are glad that Ivan was feeling much better after we came out from the first aid with a toy turtle.
We might go to the PNE again next week or so. We will see…
Hide under the blanket
Posted by ss in Life, My BB Ivan on August 21, 2009
This whole week, Sue will be on credit training, so working hour has shift one hour early.
It has been soooooooo tired for us, lack of sleep everyday, so whenever I have chances, I will sleep on the sofa.
Whenever Ivan see me this, he would ask me to play with him, and “drive” with him.
This means that we are using the blanket to cover our body and pretend we are inside a car, he really likes to do that and he enjoyed driving the “car” by himself.
He will always ask me where do I wanted to go, and always reject the places I choose.
Really cute!
Story time and Korean Festival
Posted by ss in Life, My BB Ivan on August 15, 2009
Today is story time, its the nice story teller Sadie again.
I really like this story teller, she sing well with hand signs. Ivan seems pay more attention to the story time, but still doesn’t dance along with others. I guess next time he would be better.
Next we go to the Korean Festival at Bluemountain park. Wow, its big, lots of things going on there, just amazing! We did some activities and got some TD piggy banks, then headout for lunch at Headerson place – Westwood Cafe.
Vancouver Chinatown Festival
Wow, this event is better than we excepted, lots of freebie, lots of things to play. I have to say its even better than the dragonboat festival.
We eat the 金邊小館 Phnom Penh Restaurant, because we just ate it on Friday with coworkers and its really good.
Ivan eat lots of the beef fry rice, and chicken wing. Sue things its too salty and not healthy. I think thats true, but you cannot complaint that much when you are eating outside.
We just the in law after eating, Tiffany, Ivan and I go to the festival again, while they do all the shopping. We really had a great time, We watch the bicycle stuns and Tiffany played the physical abilities test and the fish bowl.
We also got the free hat that Sue is really jealous of having.
After that, we catch bus and skytrain back home. Being so tired, Ivan is already slept during the bus to skytrain.
We got home and have leave to T&T to get a watermelon and BBQ at their house. Its another fun day!
8-8 Steveston Fisherman’s Wharf
We thought we are going to do some grocery shopping today, so we go to Coquitlam Center and try out the new playground.
It was so tiny compared to the previous playground, I don’t think any kid would enjoy playing there.
As we are about to leave for lunch, Laura called and ask if we wanted to go to Steveston. So we have to do a fast Mcdonalds and finish within 45 minutes.
It was a long drive again, and we got there at around 3.30.
Took some pictures, Laura brought some spot pawn and bread for BBQ tomorrow.
We all eat ice cream and its a great fun!
We then went to Aberdeen daiso to shop a little bit. At dinner time, we just realized that all the restaurants are fully booked because its double 8 today August 8th.
So we eat at Lam Chu Kee 林柱記, I have to say the food is pretty good. All the kids enjoy eating there, and they even have to order a second plan of clams.
Tomorrow we are planning to go to Chinatown, they seems reluctant to go, maybe because they got some work to do or prepare for the BBQ?
Holiday Day 4
Today still feeling so tired, didn’t want to do anything at all.
Weather is still hot, maybe we will go to swimming?
Still got some grocery shopping today before the working week start tomorrow!
Holiday Day 3 – Dinner
Dinner was great, seems everybody love it, the 冬瓜盅 is really tasty.
Laura was thinking to go swimming after dinner, but we took about 2 hour plus for the dinner, so at the end we only went to have the town center park for the kids to play.
It was fun, and everyone seems happy, good job!!!
Holiday Day 3
Everybody get up around 8am, Sue and I never been this tired before, arms and legs have no power to move.
Planning to have dinner with inlaws tonight, so we will mostly stay home for a break.
We didn’t even felt this tired after the long flight from Hong Kong, its amazing!
Holiday Day 2 – Portland Day 2
Day 2 starts when Ben knock on our doors at 8am.
Unbelievable, they got up so early!
We quickly packup everything and let the kids eat some breads, then we check out immediately.
Ben also lost his sun glasses, luckly Laura find it at the lost and find in the hotel, while Justin almost lost his hat, but I saw it while they are searching for the glasses.
First stop is at the Oregon Zoo.
We want to get onto the trainride to see an overview of the zoo, but at the end, we wasted $ and time, because the train doesn’t really get the view of the zoo, we only get to see elephants and deers.
As we see the giraffe and zebras, Tiffany drop her hat into the cage, my god, she is crying so bad.
The offices there says the keep will only go in after hours and the earliest time we can get back the hat is tomorrow! Too bad.
We went browsing some more animals before having lunch in the cafe inside the zoo. Our family share chicken cesar salad, grilled chicken burger and chicken strips child meal. Ivan eats okay, and went to poo afterwards.
As we left the zoo, its already almost 2pm already, and also Laura lost her hat, now they loose two hats in the zoo already, crazy…
We thought about going to other places like rose garden, park, mall, but then we have to consider the hot weather, Justin and Ivan was sleeping, traffic jams. So at the end, we decided to leave portland and go to the Westfield – The Southcenter mall in Washington to walk around and eat at the Rain Forest Cafe.
Ivan ate the Chicken strip by himself, it si a really good boy now.
We left the mall at around 8:30pm, and we drove something like 3 hours to get home.
Overall, its a nice trip, just felt if we can stay an extra day, it would be prefect.
